This Strawberry-Cabernet BBQ sauce brings a unique twist to your favorite meats with its sweet strawberry notes perfectly balanced by the rich, fruity undertones of Cabernet Sauvignon. Selected as the Publisher’s Pick for our May/June 2025 issue of Window Fashion VISION, let’s get grilling!
Strawberry-Cabernet BBQ Sauce:
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 4 oz strawberries, trimmed and quartered
- ½ cup Cabernet
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- ½ to 1 jalapeño, seeded and diced
Directions:
Step 1: Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring until golden brown, 7-9 minutes. Add the strawberries and Cabernet, and cook until the berries soften, 3-4 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer until thickened, about 8-10 minutes. Cool slightly.
Step 2: Blend with an immersion blender about 30 seconds and baste away!
