Pepper Home Adds Roman Shades to Its Custom Lineup

Customization continues to move from luxury add-on to baseline expectation, and Pepper Home is the latest brand leaning further into that shift.

Known for its made-to-order curtains and approachable design tools, the company has expanded into fully customizable roman shades, translating its -forward, highly personal model into one of the most enduring window treatment silhouettes.

Roman shades occupy an interesting middle ground. They offer more structure than curtains but retain softness that blinds and hard treatments often lack. For consumers looking for a tailored look without sacrificing warmth, they remain a go-to solution. Pepper Home’s move signals continued demand for that balance.

“Our mission has always been to make customization feel intuitive rather than intimidating,” said co-founder Erin Banta. “Roman shades felt like a natural next step, offering a more tailored look while still allowing customers to express their personal style through fabric, trim and silhouette.”

A Fabric-First Approach

The new assortment includes four styles: Flat, Knife Pleat, Relaxed and Scalloped. The scalloped option, in particular, taps into the growing appetite for playful detailing and decorative edge work seen across both fashion and interiors.

As expected from the brand, fabric is central to the offering. Shades are available in Pepper Home’s exclusive library, including linens, cotton blends, embroidery, jacquards and sheers. Decorative trim options such as bands and pom poms allow for additional personalization, reinforcing the idea that even a tailored shade can feel expressive.

Each shade is made to order in the United States and offered with privacy or blackout lining, except for sheers, which remain unlined to preserve their light-filtering quality.

Designed for the Direct-to-Consumer Era

Starting at $560 per shade, the roman shades are custom-sized to fit windows ranging from 18 to 96 inches wide and 24 to 108 inches high, with a two-week lead time. The brand also continues to emphasize ease of use, offering a curtain calculator and complimentary design assistance so customers can share photos and receive one-on-one guidance.

For trade professionals, the expansion is another signal that digitally native brands are investing in deeper product categories rather than surface-level assortment growth. As customization becomes less intimidating and more guided, the line between designer service and direct-to-consumer experience continues to blur.
