Market Report:
Trimmings

As we near the holiday season, the word “trimming” takes on a whole new meaning, as people everywhere begin the process of trimming their trees and sprucing up their homes with holiday decor. Just as this holiday trim adds a special touch to any tree, trimmings have the same effect on window treatments—adding that unique touch that makes a window fashion truly one of a kind.

As Debi Schmitz of Expo International Inc. says, ““We feel that during this recession, people are looking for items that have a ‘wow’ factor and are uplifting. So many people are making subtle changes in their homes, and by changing their window coverings or accessories, they can avoid the remodel but still enjoy a fresh, new, fun look!”

While Expo International’s sales are still primarily in the earth tone blend of trims, Christine Hoffmann, director of marketing for Brimar, has seen a recent trend toward combining bright trimmings in purples, pinks, lime and orange with equally eye-catching fabrics.

Shown here: Tassel from Trimland USA.
