By THERESA ROH-ROBERSON• Use wallpaper in a bedroom to create the illusion of a headboard.• Don’t forget the fifth wall, the ceiling, to create some excitement in a room. You may want to paint the walls or use one wallpaper design on the walls and a coordinated paper on the ceiling; try with a glass beaded design, a classic flock or a large non-directional pattern. • Have very high ceilings and want to make a room seem cozier? Use wallpaper up to about eight feet high, install a molding and a dark paper above the molding and across the ceiling. The overall effect minimizes the height of the room, while adding or enhancing other architectural features.• Try a new approach to “faux” faux finishing! Achieve the rustic aged look of antique plaster by hanging a darker faux paper first. Next take a lighter faux paper and tear it in large pieces and strategically apply it on top using vinyl over vinyl adhesive in a layering effect like decoupage. As you can see from just the few ideas listed above, there are more ways to use wallcovering then perhaps you ever thought possible … and this is just the beginning! The wallpaper industry is working hard to bring even more design ideas and innovations your way.
